Prof. Iyer has brilliant academic career with post graduation and doctoral degrees from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He is an accomplished scientist  in Structural Engineering &  teacher with over 44 years of experience in R&D, teaching experience at the PG/doctoral/UG level. He has distinguished record of publications in refereed & well cited journals. 

He has published over 200 papers in National & International refereed Journals with citations (this link takes you to Google Scholar); over 190 papers at the National & Internal Conferences, and has published over 400 technical reports; 

 

Prof. Iyer has shown commitment to helping scientists in cutting edge research with technology developments, and students develop their full potential in their studies. Strong philosophy of research, teaching, and knowledge of many different methods to motivate scientists, students to develop their expertise in specific areas. He has been a dedicated partner to R&D, industry & academic programs and outreach events that help promote deployment of technologies, innovative & novel research contributions, learning and support the community.

 

Prof. Nagesh Iyer was involved in the computer-aided analysis and design of complex and large structures which include infrastructural facilities such as power plant structures, flyovers, bridges, natural draught RCC hyperboloid cooling towers, offshore & ship structures, critical components of Aerospace Structures,  He has traveled widely abroad under different programs including the UN Fellowship. Recognizing the commitment, dedication and discipline, CSIR reposed additional responsibilities from time to time.

Prof. Iyer is placed in the topmost layer of the academicians/scientists in the field of Computational Mechanics and  is a recipient of several awards.

​

Prof. Iyer was member of the team that received the coveted CSIR Technology Prize for Engineering Technology  for pioneering contributions and leadership in the development of advanced computational methodologies, modelling techniques and software for analysis and design of complex structures, that are nationally and internationally recognized.

​

His contributions are well recognized with conferment of Fellowship by

  • Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE),

  • Indian Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM),

  • Indian Association for Structural Engineers (IASE) and

As Emeritus Distinguished Professor, AcSIR, developed & taught courses in the Post Graduate program of Renewable Energy that included Non-conventional energy (wind, solar and hybrid) structures, many core and elective courses of Engineering of Structures continuing from  previous assignment as Director, CSIR-SERC and advanced level courses for doctoral programs such visco-plasticity, advanced fatigue behaviour and fracture mechanics, finite element technology, sustainable & new materials of construction, high performance concretes, etc.
